We have just been informed by the Los Angeles District Attorney that former New York Mets baseball star, Lenny Dykstra has died as a result of self inflicted injuries. The medical examiner said that Dykstra used his bed sheet to hang himself.
Lenny Dykstra just turned 48 years old in February and is survived by his son Cutter Dykstra, who is currently playing professional baseball for the Washington Nationals.
Dykstra's cell mate said that he heard Lenny saying things like "I have no choice" and "not even Charlie Sheen is going to bail me out this time" just before he went to sleep last night.
Los Angeles Corrections Officers are investigating the matter.
Lenny Dykstra was being held on $500,000 bond in a Los Angeles county jail on charges of multiple felony charges, including Grand Theft Auto, Identity Theft, and Drug Charges. If convicted he could have faced over 12 years in state prison.
